Checklist for Home Buying Trip

  • Co-ordinate with your agent your needs and wishes so they have a clear understanding of what to show you.

  • If you have seen properties on www.Realtor.ca or other websites, send a list of these to your Agent as this gives them a better understanding of your likes/dislikes, wants and needs.

  • Ask your agent to recommend a place to stay.

  • Remember to have comfortable slip-on shoes to allow for ease in viewing homes.

  • Contact your financial institution or mortgage broker to alert them to your visit so you can speed the approval process.

  • Bring along a notebook to keep details on the homes you view.

  • Have a camera with you to take pictures of the homes and areas that interest you.

  • Take along a map of the area so you can see where your homes of interest are in relation to work, recreation areas and friends.

  • Have your agent recommend a list of Home Inspectors and make contact with one to alert them that you may require and appointment.

  • Have your cheque book with you as you will need it for a deposit on your new home.
